Salted and toasted pecans make a superb party nut. We begin the processing by harvesting our very best Extra Fancy Mammoth Fresh Pecan Halves from our farm trees. Next, we toast them to perfection. Finally, we lightly salt them while they are still warm. We love them. You will too!
“My husband says your Toasted and Salted Pecans should be outlawed! It’s only 24 hours since they arrived and already there’s more than a pound missing. Fantastic!” Mrs. Joseph Severino, Trenton, NJ
Toasted Pecans: Additional Information
Did you know that Pecans are the only tree nut native to North America? These stately trees, a member of the hickory family, grow wild from Illinois to the Gulf. Most native trees grow along river banks of the lower Mississippi Valley. Nuts from these trees, called “seedlings” are very tasty but are usually quite small with a hard shell.
Georgia Pecans are famous as our home state produces far more “improved” variety pecans than any other state. An “improved” pecan is one selected from trees whose nuts displayed some superior characteristic such as a thinner shell, larger size or better flavor. Sunnyland Farms’ home county, Dougherty County, has more pecan trees than any other in the United States; over 250,000.
- Toasted Pecans included in the our Home Boxes are considered Mammoth by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, meaning they measure between 200 – 250 halves per pound.
- Each crop year is different so size and thickness will vary year to year.
- Our promise to you is that we will always find and ship you the best pecans available.
Heart Healthy: The F.D.A. has approved this qualified health claim: “Scientific evidence suggests, but does not prove, that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, such as Pecans, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.”
