Paleo-Friendly Snacks and Gifts

A Paleo diet means eating food in whole form and limiting processed and refined foods, grains, added sugars, and dairy. At Sunnyland Farms, many products we offer are naturally compatible as they come directly from our on-site pecan trees. So our products were Paleo long before Paleo was mainstream!

Did you know pecans are a great Paleo choice? All tree nuts are! While traditional Paleo diets restrict peanuts because they are a legume, tree nuts are an accepted food and meet qualifications where a peanut would not. Whether you’re buying for yourself or someone else, you can feel confident knowing you’re buying fresh, local, and with a family-owned company that has served customers since 1948.  Our products are sold in many different ways, including our beautiful gift tins for gifting to Paleo loved ones and friends.

What is the Paleo Diet?

The Paleo diet is a healthy eating lifestyle and requires restricting processed foods, added sugars, wheat and grains, and dairy products. Instead, it focuses on meat, fish, fruits, veggies, and other food in whole food form.  Here are a few Paleo facts:

  • if there is sugar in a product, it is not Paleo.
  • many people mistakenly lump peanuts together with pecans, almonds, etc. They are, in fact, different. A peanut is a legume, which should be avoided on Paleo. On the other hand, a tree nut may be a nut like a brazil nut, pecan, cashew, or almond. Tree nuts are acceptable on Paleo.
  • in its proper form, Paleo means eating gluten-free foods
  • experts would say that Paleo is not a fad or a trend but is rooted in science, research, and data
