Heart Thumbprint Shortbread

Fun fact about Mayhaw jelly. It's made with mayhaws which are small, tart, red-to-orange fruits from native southeastern U.S. hawthorn trees that resemble tiny crabapples
Ingredients
- 1 cup salted butter cold from the fridge, diced
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ teaspoon almond extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup Sunnyland Farms Mayhaw Jelly
Instructions
- Start by blending cold butter with sugar and extracts.
- Add the flour and salt and blend until a crumbly cookie dough forms.
- . Shape the dough into tablespoon-sized balls, place them spaced 2-inches apart on lined baking sheet.
- Flatten with back of flat measuring cup. Then with thumbs, make a heart in each.
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
- Fill each heart with Sunnyland’s Mayhaw jelly.
- Bake at 350 for 15 minutes until golden brown.
