Sunnyland Pecan Candies
1960 was the first year we offered candy: Sugar 'n' Spice Halves. They, along with Orange Frosted Halves, which came later, are still mighty popular. Mrs Mac cooked them in her kitchen and carried them to the plant. (Good her house was only 100 yards away.)
When we added Pralines and Pecan Logs we saw we needed more room. So we set up a couple of gas burners in a corner of the shelling plant and bought some kitchen pots from Sears, Roebuck.
Today's kitchen has its own building with computer-controlled cookers and stainless tables. But the recipes are the same ones we have always used. Sallie and her helpers still make small batches by hand - only a lot more batches. All super-fresh and full of Sunnyland pecans or other fine nuts.
